Govt advised to tap into traditional medicine

There is growing discomfort among some sections of society, that the ministry of health continues to turn a blind eye to the potential of Basotho’s indigenous knowledge systems in the fight against Covid-19.

Traditional healers who spoke to theReporter said they should be given an opportunity to showcase how traditional medications can help in the treatment of the disease.

They lamented that government appears to have more confidence in west-developed treatments, at the expense of locally available solutions.

Questions have come up whether Africa be the source of the elusive cure for the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, during the global discourse around the quest for a prevention or cure for the deadly coronavirus, which has so far affected about 14 million people globally and claimed close to 600,000 lives.

Madagascar attracted global attention after announcing in April that it has a herbal remedy for the coronavirus.
