Cop fatally stabs wife, tries to cover his tracks

By Kefiloe Kajane

A member of the Lesotho Mounted Police Service appeared before the Mohale’s Hoek magistrate’s court last Friday on murder charges after he fatally stabbed his 35-year old wife.

Thirty-seven-year old Lebohang Moletsane of Tṧenola in Mohale’s Hoek who is stationed in the same district, allegedly killed his wife on the night of February 20 at Thoteng village.

According to Superintendent ‘Marebetsoe Mofoka, the suspect then allegedly drove off with the victim’s lifeless body in the vehicle, and deliberately caused a car accident in a bid to make her death look like an accident.

“Police investigations later revealed that the victim had been stabbed with a sharp object. The suspect will appear before the Mohale’s Hoek magistrate’s court again on March 10; he remains in police custody in the meantime,” Mofoka said.
