The Lesotho National Federation of Organisations (LNFOD) of the Disabled is hosting a two-day workshop, aimed at bridging the gap in health equity for children with disabilities.
The workshop is titled: “Amplifying Immunisation for Zero-Dose Children with Disabilities.”
In a statement, LNFOD said the workshop that commenced today, is a crucial step towards ensuring children with disabilities receive essential vaccinations.
National situational analyses reveal that children with disabilities face significant barriers to accessing vaccinations, including physical inaccessibility of health centres and lack of inclusive communication materials.
To address this, LNFOD is collaborating with the Ministry of Health and six prominent Disabled People’s Organisations to develop accessible messaging and formulate action plans.
The UNICEF Lesotho funded workshop is expected to empower leaders to identify missed communities and demand inclusive health delivery.
By the end of the workshop, LNFOD and its partners aim to have a coordinated network of advocates driving a national shift toward disability-inclusive healthcare, the statement noted.
LNFOD is an umbrella body of organisations of people with disabilities in Lesotho. Its mission is to advocate, promote, and protect the rights of people with disabilities and their families through participation and empowerment.
