A group of local journalists will next month undergo a two-day training working on the EU-SADC Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
The two-day training session, scheduled for March 2-3, aims to enhance the capacity of media practitioners to report on trade issues, particularly those related to the EPA, so they can contribute to a more informed public and policy environment in Lesotho.
The workshop will be conducted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development, in partnership with the Regional Value Chain Lesotho Plus (RVCL+) programme under GIZ, a local non-governmental organisation.
According to a statement from the ministry, the workshop is designed to equip journalists with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively cover trade-related topics, fostering a better understanding of the EPA’s implications on the country’s economy and development.
This initiative underscores the importance of a well-informed media in promoting transparency and accountability in trade policy-making.
The EU-SADC EPA is a trade agreement between the European Union and the Southern African Development Community, aimed at promoting trade and economic development in the region. The agreement provides preferential access to the EU market for SADC countries, including Lesotho, and seeks to increase investment, promote sustainable development, and enhance regional integration.
