Security guards’ strike looms

By ‘Majirata Latela

The Lesotho Workers Association has resolved to engage in a massive industrial action in terms of section 29(1) (A)(B)(C)(D)(E)(F) of the Labour Code Amendment Act of 2000.

A letter written to the human resources manager of G4S Solution on February 14 2022 stated that the industrial action in a form of a strike will commence on February 22 2022 at 7:00am to 5:00.

The letter continues to read that as per the strike, workers will still well disposed to resolve the dispute consensus amicably while the employees are embarking on the industrial action.

This is due to a pending resolution on unresolved wage increments and condition of employment at the Directorate of Dispute Prevention and Resolution.

“This follows the workers’ negotiations on the issue of a salary increase and conditions of employment having reached a deadlock,” the letter reads.
