Vodacom Lesotho says it is committed to empowering the next generation of leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Speaking at the 2026 Vodacom Lesotho Bursary send-off ceremony on Wednesday this week, CEO Mohale Ralebitso noted that the giant telecommunications’ bursary programme is not just about funding education, but also about investing in Lesotho’s future.
“We are proud to support talented, deserving students and look forward to seeing them drive innovation and growth in our country,” he said.
The Vodacom Lesotho Bursary Programme is an academic merit-based scheme intended to support full-time first year undergraduate students. Preference is given to applicants in need and persons with disabilities from underprivileged backgrounds, who aspire to study STEM subjects but lack the necessary financial resources.
The new cohort includes scholars with disabilities, reflecting the programme’s commitment to inclusion.
Human resource senior specialist in learning and development at Vodacom Lesotho Foundation, Teboho Latela, said this initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and propel Lesotho into the digital age.
According to Latela, the Foundation recognises the importance of investing in the country’s future leaders, particularly in fields driving technological advancement.
The scholarship covers full tuition fees, with no repayment required, empowering recipients to focus on their studies and contribute to Lesotho’s growth.
Eligible students are encouraged to apply, especially those passionate about shaping the country’s digital future. This is a unique opportunity to gain quality education and skills, enhancing employability and career prospects, Vodacom Lesotho Foundation says.
Beneficiaries of the programme Thato Moji, now a proud Vodacom Lesotho employee, and Lerato Tšiloane, currently with First National Bank, shared their testimonials about the impact of the Vodacom Lesotho Foundation’s scholarship.
They expressed gratitude for the opportunity that changed their lives. “We are where we are today because of this scholarship,” said Thato.
Lerato added, “It’s a privilege to give back and inspire others.”
The duo urged new scholars to work diligently, seize opportunities, and help those in need.
