Man killed over peaches

By Kefiloe Kajane

A 45-year-old man lost his life after he was assaulted by security guards who suspected him of stealing peaches at a clinic in Qacha’s Nek.

According to Sub-Inspector ‘Mareabetsoe Mofoka, three men who are security guards aged between 24 and 28 were arrested by police on February 6 for the murder of the deceased who is a resident of Ha Letete.

Mofoka said on February 2, one of the nurses at a local clinic in Lebakeng saw a man jumping the clinic fence and notified the security guards.

The guards gave chase and caught the deceased whereupon they beat him up until he lost his life on the spot.

Sub-inspector Mofoka said the security guards reported the incident to the nurse in charge of the clinic the next day.

The guards will appear before the court once the police investigations are completed.
