Top cop gunned down

Police have announced the fatal shooting of Maputsoe police station head, Senior Inspector Peete Mphatšoane who died under a hail of bullets unknown assailants at his home in Sebothaone in Leribe this past Sunday.

According to a police report, on Sunday at 5:30 pm the deceased’s wife was in the bathroom while the deceased had just arrived from work and was in the sitting room when she heard gunshots.

Moments later, the wife rushed to the sitting room where she was greeted by the sight of the deceased’s bullet-riddled lifeless body.

The wife rushed to alert a neighbour and the police were quickly informed.

Three men were seen fleeing from the scene into a nearby forest. They met a young girl who they also shot. The girl was taken to hospital where she is recovering.

The police have launched investigations into the murder.
