Limkokwing, IDM join forces

By Seleoe Nonyane

The Limkokwing University of Creative Technology and Institute Development Management (IDM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) today, which will see the two institutions collaborating to complement each other.

Under the agreement, the two bodies will engage in an exchange programmes which will among others enable Limkokwing students to attend lectures at IDM for a few months and come back later to complete their studies at the University.

Speaking at the ceremony, the LUCT registrar ‘Mateboho Moorosi, said during her teaching days at high school level she observed that students who were slow learners excelled in their studies after moving to another school.  This shows that a change of environment fosters a new perspective and approach to education.

Moorosi said that LUCT realized that they cannot work in isolation and it is important that they collaborate with fellow institutions of higher learning.

“We may wish to have everything but circumstances may not enable that. Therefore, we want to harvest from various institutions of higher learning.

“We want to harvest their quality assurance mechanisms, harvest their equipment and their resources,” she said.

She added that the LUCT has had experienced challenges with the standard of internationalization whereby, the university is supposed to exchange lecturers and students so that they get the feel of a different environment.

“Therefore, this will be possible because of the introduction of LQF because both institutions are operating on the same principles making the students exchange and credit transfer quite easy.

“The two institutions have collaborated on numerous projects, therefore the signing of the MOU was just to formalize their long relationship.”
