Event to boost rural development

By Seleoe Nonyane

A never-before-seen event that incorporates cars, fashion, music, food, and drinks will be held in Lesotho from December 9 to 10 2023 at the Trading Post at Ha Ramabanta.

Elegant Cars and Vogue is a high-class event where patrons will experience VIP treatment throughout the show.

In an interview with theReporter, event organiser, ‘Malehloa Letsie said cars from manufacturers in South Africa will be showcased and test-driven by vehicle enthusiasts.

Letsie said as for fashion, designers will also be showcasing their creations through models who will be wearing the designs.

There will also be an element of food where chefs prepare meals the way they learned in school while also showcasing their creative side.

Letsie said she wants revellers to be able to order whatever they want without being forced to eat what they only have at their disposal at the event.

She said as far as drinks are concerned, her vision is that merrymakers will only use glasses and not beverage cans or bottles because the event is a high-class affair.

This will also help keep the venue and its surroundings as tidy as possible as cans tend to cause pollution.

“As for music, it is inevitable because there is no way patrons can chill without listening to good music,” she pointed out.

Apart from entertainment, Letsie indicated that there will also be a session where entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of businessmen and women and potential partners.

“The entrepreneurs will have a 60-second pitch and their pitches will be projected to other locations at the event through screens.

“I believe that the pitching session will be important as the event will be attended by potential investors and prominent members of society. Those pitching will eventually get the financial injection they need,” she noted.

Letsie’s ultimate goal is for small businesses to be strengthened by bigger ones.

She told this publication that her passion for change is what compelled her to hold the event in the first place.

“As an individual, I love change and moving things from point A to point B. Money needs to be injected to move society from point A to point B and that is exactly what the event stands for.

“I want events to be an instrument that drives change and transforms people’s lives for the better, and not just hold an event at a certain place and leave the next day without bringing a positive impact to the lives of the people around the area of the event.

“I want to leave a lasting legacy for communities.”

Letsie and her team visited the Ha Ramabanta community last Friday to sensitise them about the upcoming event and its benefits.

She told the community that they would be allowed to showcase their products and make some income in the process.

The community of Ha Ramabanta welcomed the Elegant Cars and Vogue team with open arms and they were upbeat that their lives would be transformed after the event.

A delighted resident of Nice Ville at Ha Ramabanta, Puleng Mohale, said they had never come across such a caring team, and that nothing like this had never been done before.

Mohale said they have always felt sidelined but now they know that someone out there cares about their development.
