Diamond adopts XRT technology

By Neo Kolane

Mothae Diamonds has opted to use recycling company’s TOMRA XRT sorting technology and solution to recover large diamonds.

According to Global Mining Review’s statement issued on May 7, TOMRA has therefore started implementing XRT technology at the mine which is modern and innovative.

The recovery superintendent at Mothae Diamond, Macobone Semelane said the mine wanted to recover large unbroken diamonds at the highest sorting efficiency and high throughput.

Semelane said in turn there are lower operational costs benefitted.

Mothae Diamonds is an opencast mine which started commercial operation in 2019 following the commissioning of its kimberlite processing plant.

The mine is known to produce large, high-quality diamonds.
