Nedbank launches campaigns

By Neo Kolane

Nedbank Lesotho and the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) this week unveiled several innovative campaigns to support education, promote sustainable banking and boost tourism.

The bank is partnering with the LTDC on a campaign called Nedbank Transact and Win Big Competition.

The head of marketing and communications for Nedbank Lesotho, Sekonyela Matamane, says the campaign seeks to support LTDC’s mandate of promoting domestic tourism.

Matamane said the bank believes that a nation that knows their home is better placed to protect, and even to sell it as a visitor’s paradise.

He noted that for this year, everything has changed as there is also the commemoration of 200 years of the founding of the Basotho nation. In view of this, the bank will be presenting a special package with discounted rates on accommodation and activities in the country.

“Our campaign will also feature prizes ranging from grocery vouchers to cash prizes valued at M200,000.

“This campaign will also enable us to further share guidance on good money management principles,” Matamane indicated.

He explained that the bank is also celebrating some leading digital banking solutions such as the Nedbank MobiMoney, the Nedbank Money (Africa) app, internet banking platform and a host of others.

Matamane said Nedbank is grateful to LTDC for embracing the idea of holding the bank’s hand as it delivers a number of excursions to some of the iconic tourist destinations in the country between the month of July and November 2024.

The winner will be allowed to invite a plus-one to visit iconic places.

“We also wish to pledge our support for the LTDC’s legislated tourism levy drive,” he added.

In response, LTDC’s head of strategic marketing, Tebello Thoola, said the idea of domestic tourism is the one that brought them closer to Nedbank Lesotho.

Thoola said LTDC is excited that Nedbank Lesotho approached them to promote domestic tourism.

“While the bank runs the competition, as LTDC we choose a destination where the winners will go,” he said.

As a reflection of its commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment, Nedbank Lesotho will be offering a renewable energy solution for schools through the Nedbank green schools’ campaign.

The campaign aims to reward at least two schools in the initial stage.

This is part of the bank’s efforts towards ensuring that the planet is protected for the sustenance of future generations.

“We will ensure that students are not affected by power outages, while also assisting the schools to achieve some energy efficiencies in their daily operations.

“The schools’ competition will also see prizes that include study vouchers for the students themselves, while the winning school will receive a solar energy solution, with full installation and training,” Thoola pointed out.

He also explained that the school that emerges victorious will also get to nominate a beneficiary school to receive a similar reward.
