LHDA celebrates Women in Construction Day

The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) recently hosted its annual Women in Construction Day, bringing together over 200 women involved in phase II of the project.

The event held at the Polihali Multi-purpose  Recreation Centre celebrated the vital contributions of women in the construction industry and their significant role  in the development of Lesotho.

In a press statement, the LHDA noted that the event served as a platform to honour the strengths, skills, and knowledge of women in engineering and construction, underscoring their impact on the project and broader construction sector.

It aimed to empower participants through professional development, leadership opportunities, and networking, encouraging them to thrive in a traditionally male dominated field.

The Minister of Public Works , Matjato Moteane, expressed  his pride in the project’s role in transforming the nation ’economy.

He applauded the women for taking bold steps in their professional development.

A group of girl learners from 10 high schools in the project area also attended the event and had the opportunity to engage with professionals and guests speakers, learning about the LHDA and the opportunities it holds for the future.
