Higherlife Foundation awards 10 scholarships

King Letsie III has presented scholarships to 10 young Basotho, marking a significant milestone in Lesotho’s educational journey.

The initiative is supported by Econet Telecom Lesotho through its social investment arm, Higherlife Foundation Lesotho. It aims to empower young Basotho through education in critical fields such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Monday, Dennis Plaatjies, CEO of Econet Telecom Lesotho, expressed his profound honour to be part of this celebration.

He underscored the importance of education in shaping the future of Lesotho, noting that the 10 scholars will pursue their studies at various institutions across the globe.

Plaatjies highlighted the progress of the first cohort, now in their second year, who are already making remarkable strides in their respective fields.

Since the launch of the Moshoeshoe I scholarship in 2022, Higherlife Foundation has invested in the education of 20 exceptional young Basotho, covering tuition fees, stipends, learning materials, and travel expenses. This support allows scholars to focus on their academic pursuits without financial burdens, laying a solid foundation for a prosperous future.

On his part, the Minister of Education and Training, Ntoi Rapapa, reminded the scholars of their responsibility to represent their nation and Econet Telecom Lesotho with diligence and dedication.

The King also conveyed heartfelt gratitude to Higherlife Foundation for its invaluable contributions to educating Basotho children. urging the scholars to study diligently for the betterment of their country.
