Charity Spin Fest with a purpose

Tebello Mofarasi of Hlotse, Leribe has organised a Charity Spin Fest to raise funds to buy at least 100 pairs of shoes for disadvantaged children in Maseru.

The aim of the initiative is to inspire the community to take an active role in supporting education by investing in essential school necessities.

Apart from that, the event also intends to make a lasting impact and help empower the next generation.

In an interview with theReporter this week, Mofarasi disclosed that this is their second edition of the event but the first of its kind, blending the excitement of spinning with a powerful cause.

“We are introducing the spinning culture in a new way, hoping to expand annually, bringing the community together for positive change. The event is going to be held at Makoanyane Barracks, Ha Leqele, Maseru in early March.

“The inspiration behind the Charity Spin Fest came from a deep desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of disadvantaged children in Lesotho. We recognised the power of community and car culture to drive change, so we decided to combine both in an exciting, innovative way,” Mofarasi observed.

He noted that school shoes are a basic necessity for education, yet many children in Lesotho struggle to access them. Therefore, by organising a spin event the aim is not only to raise funds but also raise awareness, turning every pedal stroke into a step towards brighter futures.

Mofarasi also indicated that the event is a celebration of giving, car culture, and community – uniting people around a common cause to make a lasting impact.

“As the first event of its kind in Lesotho, we hope it sets a precedent for future charitable events, creating a tradition of care, compassion, and collaboration that grows year after year,” he said.

“The Charity Spin Fest is an annual event that’s quickly gaining momentum, with plans to expand beyond the capital to other districts and, eventually, nationwide. Rooted in Lesotho’s vibrant car culture, the event brings together enthusiasts for a common cause – raising school shoes for disadvantaged children. As we grow, we aim to inspire communities to invest in education and essential school supplies, making a lasting impact across the country.”

The Charity Spin Fest targets both children and adults, creating a fun, family-friendly atmosphere for all ages. Activities include thrilling car spinning performances, exciting kids’ games, and engaging fun for the whole family.

With food stalls catering to food enthusiasts and a variety of entertainment, the event offers something for everyone. It is an action-packed day where families can come together to support a meaningful cause while enjoying great food and entertainment.

Mofarasi said the vision for the Charity Spin Fest is to become a national movement that unites communities across Lesotho in support of education.

“We envision expanding into every district, raising funds to purchase thousands of school shoes and essential supplies for children in need. Beyond that, we aim to inspire a culture of giving and community involvement, fostering partnerships with businesses, influencers, and global organisations. Ultimately, Charity Spin Fest will not only transform lives but also become a symbol of unity, hope, and change for generations to come,” he added.

For entry, kids are expected to pay only M70 while adults pay M100. For stalls and more information people can contact +266 6242 3398
