Police are organising a prayer walk in the MpharaneConstituency on Saturday this week in response to the recent surge in crime in the area.
This initiative follows a community outreach event held recently, during which Lesotho Mounted Police Service officers engaged directly with residents to address growing safety concerns.
In an interview with theReporter, NkopaneMathibeli, a local village councillor, praised the police’s efforts to educate the public about the expected rise in crime during the Easter holidays.
Mathibeli underscored the importance of community vigilance and urged residents to refrain from engaging in unlawful behaviour.
The prayer walk seeks to promote unity and spiritual intervention as tools in the fight against crime.
Mathibeli encouraged residents to take part in the walk as a public declaration of their commitment to a safer Mpharane. Organisers hope this collective act will contribute to a more secure environment during the festive season, a time when crime rates typically increase.
Police remain confident that combining spiritual solidarity with proactive policing will have a meaningful impact on curbing crime in the constituency.
