World Vision International, in partnership with the Lutheran World Federation, Plan International and Save the Children, will on Friday host a high-level side event during the 48th Ordinary Session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) in Maseru.
Held under the theme “Advancing Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) as a Core Component of the Right to Education in Africa,” the event will bring together representatives from the African Union, governments, civil society organisations, education stakeholders and development partners to advocate for the integration of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into education systems across Africa.
The engagement seeks to strengthen recognition of SEL as an essential component of children’s right to education, particularly for those affected by conflict, displacement and humanitarian crises.
Beyond academic learning, education should equip children with skills to manage emotions, build healthy relationships, develop resilience and reach their full potential.
