LNIG-Hollard Insurance Company has launched a new product called ‘All For Her Motor Insurance’ which is expressly designed to cover female Basotho motorists.
With all the offerings of a traditional motor insurance plan, the product goes a step further by including key safety features to keep female motorists safe on the road and elsewhere.
The company says it is committed to playing a part in the safety and comfort of women because of its conviction that when women are safe, they have time to live more and achieve more, thereby contributing to the growth of the economy.
In collaboration with vehicle tracking company Tracker Lesotho, clients will have access to the Tracker Connect App. This allows them to enjoy the following safety features: a key fob, roadside and medical assistance, car guard, as well as regular reminders such as license and disk renewal reminders and many more services through the Tracker call centre.
To further ensure that female motorists feel safe on the road, LNIG has partnered with relevant service providers that will offer defensive driving and self-defense lessons.
Speaking at the launch of the ‘All For Her Motor Insurance’, LNIG head of underwriting Kefuoe Ramokhele said time has come for insurance to cover not only related insurance aspects, but also other aspects that are inherent to society as well.
Ramokhele noted that the company understands that the time has come for them to exist beyond just the call of insurance aspects but also mitigate some of the societal challenges that Basotho face.
“We have realised as LNIG that violence against women and girls has reached epidemic propositions. Reports indicate that one in three women are subjected to violence in their lifetime,” he said.
He also indicated that a study by the World Bank had revealed that 35 percent of women worldwide experience or have experienced either physical or sexual violence in their life time. It is for this reason that the ‘All For Her Motor Insurance’ had been designed.
Ramokhele said that there had been minimum effort towards addressing certain barriers that are inherent to women’s access to insurance-related solutions. LNIG has more than 40 years in the insurance industry in Lesotho and it is committed to bringing Basotho products that offer more than financial solutions through a holistic approach, he added.
