The second Lesotho Energy Access Dialogue(LEAD) ended in Maseru today, bringing together key stakeholders to seek sustainable solutions and strengthen energy access in the country.
The conference was organised by the National University of Lesotho Energy Research Centre, the EU Renewable Lesotho Programme, and the Department of Energy.
Officially opening the meeting yesterday, the Minister of Energy and Mining, LejoneMpotjoane, said the government plans to set up energy-driven data centres across the country.
He noted that Lesotho’s ultimately mission is to export renewable energy to the rest of the SADC region.
“This platform comes at a defining moment not only for our energy sector but for our country’s developmental trajectory.
“Energy is no longer an infrastructure issue; it is also a social matter on the national transformation critical agenda,” Mpotjoaneadded.
