The government is currently officially launching a new project aimed at strengthening the country’s ability to anticipate and respond to climate-related disasters.
According to the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) the “Strengthening Community-Led Anticipatory Action in Lesotho” project is being implemented by the government through the support of the Lesotho Red Cross, World Food Programmeand Food Agriculture Organisation.
The initiative is designed to advance Lesotho’s national capacity to respond to climate-related shocks through strengthened systems, institutional integration and community-driven approaches. The project uses multi-hazard, multi-sectoral methods to enhance disaster risk management.
