Police allowances support remains unchanged

The Minister of Home Affairs and Police, Voeswa Tsheka, says she has not withdrawn support for restructuring police allowances or abandoned the welfare concerns of Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) officers.

In a statement, Tsheka said Cabinet had approved the requests subject to concurrence from the ministries of Finance and Public Service.

She noted that retention of officers on leave pending retirement was prioritised before allowances.

Sequencing did not mean rejection of the allowances request, which still requires technical work and the required approvals before implementation, she added.
