Blaze drops debut album

Up and coming female rapper Mpho “Blaze” Malefane is set to release a 14-track album titled ‘Mofumahali’ end of September, which she says will give her fans some insight of who she really is.

The self-proclaimed queen of rap, who also goes by the alias ‘Shatta Queen’, says releasing an album has always been in her to-do list but it just never happened; she says she is finally ready to give her fans what they have always asked for.

“I last released music in December and many people would ask me when I would give them more music. When I asked if they wanted a single they said they wanted something bigger which would create even bigger memories. That’s how I got down to compiling the sounds from trap, dancehall and hip hop. These songs describe me, who I am and what I represent,” the songstress said.

She told theReporter it was never easy to cut it as a female rapper, but her skills, determination and eagerness to learn have helped become who she is today.

“I would advise anyone who wants to be a rapper, especially females, to make sure you surround yourself with other female rappers; do not isolate yourself as you will need that support,” she said.

Blaze said she is eagerly looking forward to performing some of her new songs at this year’s 10th Annual Reggae and Dancehall Summer Fest, which is scheduled for October.
