Fashion calendar launched

By Neo Kolane

As a way of integrating all aspects of the fashion industry in Lesotho, a fashion calendar that appreciates top models, beauty queens and fashion influencers has been launched.

The calendar was launched on January 22 2021 by fashion activist, Thato Fonya under the Fashion Plug Africa.

Fashion Plug Africa is a WakandaLand Lifestyle hub aimed at keeping people in the loop with the latest trends of works of fashion, models, beauty queens, fashion influencers and all what’s going around the globe. It is about forging relationships for Africa investment promotion in the fashion and modelling industries.

Fashion Plug Africa is also the African Fashion Hub platform profiling the best in the industry of fashion, beauty and modelling.

Speaking to theReporter, Fonya said they are kick-starting this year’s journey with a fashion calendar aimed at raising funds to support the fashion industry and other unprivileged industries during this second wave of Covid-19.

The fashion events producer noted that there is not much collaboration of models with beauty queens and fashion influencers, everyone is working in isolation.

“I came up with the idea of integrating all these aspects which adhere to the works of fashion because in beauty there is fashion, in modelling there is fashion. So as an influencer of fashion you need to work together with all these aspects to make the fashion industry grow and network together,” he said.

The calendar’s very first cover is none other than modeling supremo, Mojabeng Senekal Ndebele.

“I called on the top models, fashion influencers, beauty queens and directors who are involved in the work of fashion and they honoured the invitation to be a part of this amazing journey,” he explained.

“I was looking for active people in the fraternity of fashion industry. Secondly I was looking at their influence point of view, whether it adheres to my standards as a person and whether it is appealing to the public as a whole,” he stated.

He also mentioned that there will be fashion events, which is the next project where the collaboration will be with fashion designers to host the show. This will be another method of promoting fashion and raising funds.

“A show will be hosted courtesy of a certain designer,” he said.

The calendar will be on sale on digital platforms as a soft and hardcopy. It is a 14-page calendar comprising Lesotho top models, beauty queens and fashion influencers.

“The fashion industry in Lesotho has a great potential to change the economy if taken seriously, and promotion and investment are done to advocate for it to exist as one of the industries in Lesotho,” the executive producer of the Fashion Plug Africa said.
