Botswana supports fired Tṧepong nurses

By Kefiloe Kajane

The Botswana Nurses Union (BONU) has become the latest organisation to show support to the 346 nurses that were fired by Tṧepong less than two weeks ago.

In a correspondence to the Lesotho Nursing Association (LNA), BONU said as a sister country and regional comrades, they stand in solidarity with LNA as they pursue justice and better working conditions for nurses in Lesotho.

BONU also appealed to the government of Lesotho as a partner to Tṧepong Group to intervene as the issue is unnecessary and will increase unemployment of Lesotho

“We are aware that the dismissal of these nurses has left only a handful nurses in such a big and busy academic hospital. It is shocking that such drastic action could be taken during the pandemic. It is unthoughtful, to say the least,” the communication reads.

Meanwhile, the minister of health announced that the government will be cutting ties with Tṧepong.
