Chronic patients to receive vaccine

By Kefiloe Kajane

The ministry of health announced that people with high blood pressure, HIV (stage 3 and 4) and patients on TB treatment should go to government clinics or hospitals for Covid-19 vaccination, from tomorrow until April 25.

The health facilities designated for this purpose are Queen II, Domicilliary Clinic, Likotsi Filter Clinic, Lorreto, LDF clinic, Paki Clinic, Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial, Sankatana Clinic, St Leo Hospital, Qoaling Filter Clinic, St Joseph’s Hospital and Scott Hospital.

This comes after a shipment of the AstraZenecca vaccine arrived in Lesotho in March. Vaccination then began with front liners, namely people who work in the health sector.

The AstraZenecca/Oxford vaccine is licenced under the Serum Institute of India, which represents part of the first wave of Covid-19 vaccines headed to several low and middle – income countries.
