Traffic suspends number plates

By Kefiloe Kajane

After a decision made by the cabinet last week to replace the Coat of Arms on the current number plates to the Basotho hat (mokorotlo), the ministry of transport today announced suspension of the issuing of number plates

The ministry indicated that the suspension is in order to give have enough time to prepare for the introduction of new number plates that bear an image of the mokorotlo.

The ministry further advised people who still have receipts for number plates and those whose numbers plates are fading, to go to the ministry to collect their number plates which still spot the Coat of Arms.

The ministry indicated that a further notice will be issued to inform the public of the way forward regarding new number plates. This will be the second time the country changes its number plate in a space of a year.
