New cops pass out

By Motšelisi Sekonyela

The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) will hold a pass out parade for 294 police recruits who have completed 11 and half months training at the Police Training College on Friday this week.

Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli told the media on Tuesday that, for the first time in LMPS’s history, police chiefs from some of the African countries like Rwanda, Eswatini and Namibia will be guest at this pass out ceremony.

“This year, the LMPS commissioner has invited his counterparts from some of the African countries that we have good relations with. This will further strengthen cordial relations between Lesotho’s law enforcement agency and its regional counterparts.

“The visiting police commissioners and their entourages are expected to jet in before Friday. However, the Rwandan police commissioner has already landed in the country. The Prime Minister and his cabinet are also expected to grace the event with their presence,” Mopeli said.
