Relebohile ‘Bobo’ Ruth Buti is the new Face of Lesotho Queen for the year 2022/2023 after being crowned last Saturday at the Face of Lesotho Coronation.
In high spirits, the 24 year- old said winning Face of Lesotho marked the commencement of her journey as she now has a lot more responsibilities than when she was just a finalist.
She said she is obliged to set a good example for those coming after her.
“Now I have young girls looking up to me and it is my job to make them realize that most of the things in life are at their reach. It is my turn to show why I was crowned queen in the first place,” Buti suggested.
The queen is a firm believer that she is poised to change the environment in which she lives.
Buti considered joining and winning Face of Lesotho the biggest highlight of her pageantry life adding that joining the competition was the best decision ever in her life.
However, she admitted that it was not an easy ride for she sometimes felt as though she could quit.
“The journey was not an easy one I must say. There were a few times when I thought I might bite more than I could chew. But then the fighting spirit in me kept me going and now look where I have landed me,” she said.
Prior to entering pageantry, she was a runway model which had won her interest initially.
Later on, she jumped into beauty pageantry in 2019 and was crowned Miss Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
Face of Lesotho is her second time joining pageantry walked away with the crown.
Buti is adamant that the competition helped her grow as an individual and made her realize her full potential. She strongly believes that Face of Lesotho opened her eyes and made her realize that everyone has the ability to better people’s lives. All what is requires, is a will to work hard, she added.
During the duration of her reign, she said she will mostly focus on reducing the rates at which young boys and girls have children compelling them to start a family at their young age.
This, she explained, came to her attention when she partook in Lesotho Demographic Survey in 2021 where she learned that a large number of young girls between the ages of 13-18 are already parents.
Therefore, her project will be based on educating them on the importance of waiting until “they come of age or when they have reached the independence stage.”
Moreover, she added that she has decided to merge the project with farming. She plans to use farming as a way of keeping the youth busy and teach them how to better their lives by working for themselves to overcome high unemployment rate in the country.
