Song reflects Morena Sway’s identity

By Neo Kolane

Passionate and lyrically gifted artist, Morena Sway has blown people’s mind with his hit single ‘Ke Tsoa Kae’ which explains his identity.

Ke Tsoa Kae is a track released under his Extended Play of Sematsatsa.

People listened to Sematsatsa and they wanted to have more music so he worked on the project making the song part of the project.

Sematsatsa, which is also a single was released in 2020 being his first international single which skyrocketed his music career and gained him a spot on SABC radio Lesedi FM and was nominated number five on Metro FM top 40.

The 25-year old who began singing at the age of six said he started getting recognised across the border and having interviews with South African radio stations and being an artist of the week.

He also started getting calls from companies in South Africa and other artists.

People began getting curious wondering who this person is, so that is what made the song big.

Born Bataung Mpota, Morena Sway said Ke Tsoa Kae is depicts his origins as a Mosotho, a child of and a Moshoeshoe.

The song was produced by a Ghanaian Coby Dollar whom he met on social media.

“I ran over his work and I texted him and he went over my work and he was like yeah, let us work out something together,” he said.

In as much as the song was released in 2021, it was only receiving him due respect on Moshoeshoe’s Day.

“It was then officially launched because of the special day of Moshoeshoe and I began pushing it and take it out to people after the date which is March 11.

“It played a very huge role because there were journalists from Germany who came to interview me to know more about Lesotho.

“These journalists go from country to country to get an artist loved by people. People love the song and they actually say the song is bigger than me because it has the national anthem in it,” Morena Sway said.

Morena Sway is also a business man.

Known for having an annual event every November, Sway said he is therefore working on another project with eight songs.

Performing with his live band at international stages such as Cherry jazz festival, Jazz on the lawn, Macufe poetic blues, Fanfest festival, Lestofe sounds of blues and many more, he keeps raising the bar with his music and his talent speaks volumes.
