National beauty pageant, Face of Lesotho (FOL) will be hosting a Royalty Culture Affair Gala which is a prestigious modern day cultural red carpet with traditional dishes, dances, music and tales on August 6 2022.
Face of Lesotho is the second biggest national beauty pageant after Miss Lesotho, registered under the Beauty Pageants Association of Lesotho.
Its purpose is to educate young people in life skills, promote local talent and have an aggressive presence in different activities in the country.
The director of the pageant, Lintle Setho, said the idea behind the gala is that as an organisation FOL is committed to promoting culture.
Lintle added that as young people there is a need to reinvent Boshoeshoe and establish an understanding of who Basotho are and where they come from in a more fashionable way.
He went on to say that also, most people will remember that August is the Basotho’s New Year therefore the New Year will be celebrated in style.
“Apart from the classic culture looks, people should expect all things traditional from décor to food, drinks and an assortment of dances which will be accompanied by tales and Basotho history.
“The event is organised under the umbrella of The Face of Lesotho (FOL) organisation by the FOL team. This event intends on re-living our culture, therefore ensures the long-life of Lesotho’s culture and the re-positioning of our country’s tourism wisely as we are also not only targeting locals.
“We are also striving to ensure that our younger generations hold their true identity,” Lintle said.
He revealed that this event will be the first of its kind, because the organisation is known to have hosted galas before but the whole culture re-brand is new.
Lintle referred to it as Culture Affair because it is all things that reflect culture and tradition in a whole new perspective that fits the generation’s eye on cultural affairs.
He said there will be presentation of true culture in a youthful way because FOL understands that people of late are re-drawn to class.
He told theReporter that the culture affair theme includes royalty because FOL is looking for “fashionable traditional designs because we want to highlight that tradition can be stylish.”
However, he said that there is no restriction in age “hence FOL wants everybody to experience the ideal originality.”
