By Mothusi Thabane

Naledi Funeral Planners CEO, Thabiso Maliba, is expected to appear in court for bail application on March 15 2023.

Maliba appeared in the Magistrate court for the first time on Wednesday lastweek for a charge of murder of two co-workers that happened on the evening of February 10.

According to the head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Limpho Masasa, Maliba is charged with the murder of Naledi Funeral Planners Chief Financial Officer Ikhetheleng Matabane and Financial Manager ‘Maserema ‘Makong at a shooting incident at The Deck near Pioneer Mall.

Masasa told Magistrate Peter Murenzi that on the evening of 10 February this year, police received a report that ‘Makong and Matabane were shot by unknown gunmen at The Deck. Masasa told the court that police found ‘Makong already dead at the scene while Matabane was rushed to hospital where he was certified dead. Maliba surrendered to the police on February 27.

Masasa said investigations revealed that the murder follows a series of conflicts among Naleli Funeral Planners management.

He added that Maliba is suspected of engineering the shooting. Two other suspects are still at large.
