 Spring Jump Off returns

By Seleoe Nonyane

The Spring Jump Off is back, bigger and better.

It will be held over the first weekend of September.

The event debuted as a one-day show last year. However, the Spring Jump Off team (Big Events and Hootas Production) announced yesterday at a press conference that this year the show will be a four-day affair.

The extravaganza kicks off with a comedy night on Thursday followed by a pre-party on Friday. Both events will be held at Cuban Linx.

The main event on Saturday, September 2 is set to take place at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre. The show will be rounded off by an after-party on Sunday at Avani Maseru.

Speaking at the press conference, Hootas Production director, Zynne Sibika, also known as Mahoota, said the objective behind the four-day event is to accommodate revellers visiting the country for a few days to enjoy weekend long shows.

The event also seeks to attract tourists.

“Most people only return to their homes on Monday so this is just to make sure that they are entertained until the last day,” Mahoota said.

Another significant change to this year’s event is that the number of main acts has increased from three to eight, with the likes of Scorpion Kings, Kwesta and Emtee joining the fray.

Mahoota also indicated that 80 percent of the line-up will be local artists. This is meant to give them a chance to rub shoulders with the big South African acts and even maybe form collaborations.
