theReporter has won the 2023 African Excellence Award for ‘Digital and Print Newspaper of the Year 2023 – Lesotho’.

The newspaper is among 33 winners from various sectors across Africa honoured last week by leading London-based magazine, MEA Markets.

The publication said the awards recognise people and companies driving change in Africa through innovation.

They also provide a platform to highlight excellence within the business sector by looking at a range of corporate activities including deals, projects, and company initiatives, both internal and in the community.

“The awards highlight and acknowledge industry leaders from across the continent, whose work and determination has helped to drive Africa to be recognised as one of the leading places for international business,” the organisers noted.

MEA Awards Coordinator, Kaven Cooper, commented on the success of the programme and its winners.

“Here we see a magnificent and diverse programme flourish yet again. We showcase businesses with expertise in destination management and international tourism to pivotal branding and design.

“Defined today by innovation and adaptation, Africa has already established a strong foundation for excellence, improving and influencing a plethora of fields and industries,” Cooper said.

He added: “I am pleased to have worked with such a brilliant assortment of companies that deliver supreme quality on a daily basis. All of our winners offer something unique to the corporate landscape, and I wish them all the best for the future ahead.”

MEA Markets is a quarterly publication dedicated to researching and publicising the major moves and events as they happen across the entire Middle East and Africa region.

It has a team of trained and committed journalists, contributors, researchers, and worldwide industry insiders that are on hand to ensure that their global relationship enjoys access to timely and entertaining content that keeps them up to date with the ins and outs of the fast-moving African region.

For the past five years, the awards have recognised the very best of African industry.

“Our winners are determined through an innovative selection process based on merit, and our strict criteria ensures that only the most deserving go on to be successful in the programme. Regardless of company size or industry authority, the team at MEA Markets only consider evidence related to company performance, productivity, quality of products and services, and customer satisfaction,” MEA Markets said.

The managing director of Barumuoa Communications, the publishers of theReporter, Pauline Ramonotsi was delighted with the award.

Ramonotsi said the recognition was a clear testimony that the publication’s work was increasingly being appreciated even beyond Lesotho’s borders.

“This tells us that we’re doing something right as we continuously strive to give our readers the content they want, which is factual and free from bias,” she noted. She added that the theReporter has grown since its inception four years ago to become one of Lesotho’s most influential publications, attributing this to the directors and dedicated and innovative staff.
