NUL holds 48th Convocation

The National University of Lesotho (NUL) is currently holding a graduation ceremony to award certificates, diplomas and confer degrees.

The 48th Convocation, which started yesterday and will run until October 3, 2023, is being held under the theme: ‘NUL: Recalibrating Quality, Relevance and Visibility’.

Split activities to mark the ceremony will be held both at the Roma campus and the Institute of Extra-Mural Studies (IEMS) Maseru campus on various days.

However, according to a NUL press statement, there will be no events on Thursday and Friday this week to accommodate the local government elections.

“The graduation ceremony will be staggered over five days according to faculties.

“The first day will be dedicated to the official opening of the convocation by the NUL Chancellor, His Majesty King Letsie III.

“This will be followed by official speeches. Afterwards, faculty-specific ceremonies will begin with the Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Law on the first day.

“Other faculties and IEMS will follow on the subsequent days,” the statement read.

This is the second year that the university holds a staggered ceremony to give graduates a chance to enjoy the ceremony in “smaller manageable groups rather than a large group, all at once, as has been the case in the past”.
