Workshop focuses on road safety

By Neo Kolane

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) recently held a workshop on road safety in Maseru.

The meeting was organised by UNITAR in collaboration with eThekwini Municipal Academy and Institute of Learning in South Africa.

It brought together about 100 government officials and law enforcement officers from the Road Safety Department and other entities responsible for road safety.

In a statement, UNITAR said the training sought to find ways to strengthen national capacity and develop local strategies to improve existing road infrastructure and law enforcement for the benefit of all road users.

The workshop took place in support of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDoR) 2023 that aims to remember people killed and seriously injured on the roads.

This year, the WDoR puts the spotlight on justice.

UNITAR will hold similar training workshops in South Africa, Eswatini and Namibia.
