Dagga hair products bring back confidence

By Matṧeliso Phulane

By developing Dagga Hair Food and Oil, Ntikoe Makhatseane of Maputsoe in Leribe, found a solution for young women who struggle with different hair problems such as hair loss, dandruff, and dry hair.

Makhatseane’s company – Life Solution Organix – which was established in December last year manufactures various cosmetic products for both hair and skin treatment.

She told theReporter in an interview this week that ever since the dagga hair food was introduced to the market last year, she has never received any negative feedback from customers; instead they all rave about the products.

The products’ benefits include promoting hair growth, strengthening hair and adding its volume, reducing breakage, and dandruff and itchy scalp while also leaving hair moisturized for much longer.

“I started this business single-handedly and am currently working on my own in terms of financial support and marketing. The aim of starting this business was for me to grow and become an independent woman.”

She revealed that to make this hair food, she uses wild dagga which can also be used as a beverage due to its health benefits. She adds a few additional ingredients in order to strengthen the product.

“The dagga I use is sourced from South Africa. I do not use the normal dagga like the one which is grown in Lesotho which people use for recreational purposes.

“I couldn’t wait to save money to manufacture the product immediately so that Basotho could also have products which they not only see on social media platforms but are also available not only in other countries like in South Africa,” she added.

Makhatseane added that the stickers of the dagga products feature the Lesotho flag, an indication that they are manufactured in Lesotho by Mosotho child and are therefore unique.

What sets her products apart is that hers are pure and natural; they contain no synthetic chemicals such as dyes.

Her target market is mostly young women because they always want to try different hairstyles.

As a result, some of the hairstyles end up affecting their growth, forcing them to use different hair products which may even cause more problems for their hair.

Makhatseane noted that even though she does not like growing her hair due to her scalp problems, ever since she started using dagga hair food and oil she has seen positive results and always encourages people to use them both.

Her products could also be used by men who like to grow their beards longer because it grows hairs and heals the scalp.

Even though her business is still new, she has encountered challenges such as lack of market; also, the business does not flourish as expected due to a drastically declined economy in many the countries.

Despite all her challenges, Makhatseane never felt discouraged to quit on her business; rather she worked harder to ensure that she teaches people about her products.

“My dream is to see my business growing to the extent that I can open branches in all the districts where people can easily access my products. I would like to encourage others not to be afraid to venture into business as well,” she added.
