Letšeng donates sanitary towels

‘Mantšali Phakoana

Letšeng Diamonds yesterday donated sanitary towels to 120 pupils from Thamae LECSA Primary School.

According to a statement from Letšeng, the initiative is part of the mine’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.

The mine noted that it chipped in after recognising that some girls were missing classes due to lack of access to sanitary towels.

The donation was also aimed at supporting the education and well-being of the young girls.

The company has also been actively involved in various initiatives to support healthcare and sustainable development in communities where it operates.

“Menstrual hygiene management is a critical issue that affects millions of girls and women globally, with many facing challenges due to limited access to menstrual products.

“In Lesotho, this issue is particularly prevalent, with a significant number of young girls missing out on their education due to lack of access to sanitary towels.

“The donation of sanitary towels to the 120 pupils will sustain them until April 2025. This will help ensure that these young girls can manage their menstrual hygiene effectively and continue their education without interruptions,” Letšeng said.

The gesture is not just about providing a basic necessity but also about promoting gender equality, education, and empowerment, it added.

By ensuring that girls have access to sanitary towels, the company is helping to break down barriers that prevent girls from fully participating in school activities and reaching their full potential.
