LEC acknowledges connection delays

The Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC) has acknowledged growing customer concerns over delays in new electricity connections, particularly for applications submitted since May 2024.

The company says significant shortages of essential materials continue to hinder its ability to meet the increasing demand for electricity services.

In a recent press release, LEC public relations manager, Tepang Ledia, said the power utility was committed to resolving the situation as swiftly as possible.

“We’re actively working to make the procurement of the required materials, which has been a critical factor in the delays,” Ledia noted.

“We’re doing everything within our power to minimise the inconvenience caused and to restore normal service levels. In light of these challenges, the LEC encourages customers who are awaiting connections to reach out for updates on their applications.

“The company aims to maintain transparent communication during this period and is dedicated to providing quality service despite the ongoing hurdles,” the statement added.
