LHDA recovers TBM component

The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) has given assurance that work on Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project is on schedule despite a recent accident involving a truck carrying a component of a tunnel boring machine (TBM). 

The truck carrying the TBM component overturned at Liphofung between Ha ‘Mamohauand Mphorosane on September 14, enroute to Katse.

According to LHDA public relations manager Mpho Brown, the truck and the component wereremoved from the crash site on September 25.

“Assembly of the TBM will proceed with the other components of the TBM that are already at the site. A replacement component is being transported from China. The assembly process was planned to take two months,” Brown noted.
