100 male students to undergo vocational training

A total of 100 male students will soon undergo training in various courses at four vocational schools across the country.

The training is part of an agreement between the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives from the United Arabic Emirates.

The courses, which include reception and access control, CCTV monitoring and patrol duties, incident reporting, crowd control and emergency reporting including fire safety, will be delivered through a digital school and skills academy model.

During a press conference this week, the Minister of Education and Training, Professor Ntoi Rapapa, said the first phase will be a one-month online course to be conducted by the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) department.

Thereafter, the students will enroll at four vocational schools; Lesotho Opportunities Industrialisation Centre (LOIC), Thaba Tseka Technical Institute in Thaba Tseka, Catholic Comprehensive Community College in Leribe and Ntlafatso in Mohale’s Hoek, he noted.

“For this first phase, we decided to select a maximum of 100 candidates in possession of a Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education or Cambridge Overseas School Certificate, agedbetween 21 and 40 years. These should be men and boys of not less that 173cm height,” Rapapa explained, adding the training will equip the students with skills to enhance their chances of getting employment both locally and internationally.
