The Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Motlatsi Maqelepo on Friday officially opened the Maseru Youth Games in Maseru.
Maqelepo also received the Queen’s Baton and handed it over to a group of young athletes representing Lesotho’s sports.
The arrival of the Queen’s Baton, which forms part of the international Queen’s Baton Relay is a tradition that precedes the Commonwealth Games.
The Baton carries a message from King Charles III, the Head of the Commonwealth and it continues to journey through all member countries and territories ahead of the upcoming Games.
“Sports empower the youth and promote peace as well as to foster cultural exchange within the Commonwealth,” Maqelepo said.
