Boot camper wins big

Top performer at the Lesotho Defence Force’s (LDF) Boot Camp, Lithakong Masilo (24) was over the moon on Tuesday this week after he received a M5,000 cheque to kickstart a five-year investment with the Lesotho Post Bank.

The cheque was handed over by Platinum Credit Lesotho, a 100 percent locally owned microfinance institution.

Masilo’s outstanding performance earned him the coveted award, recognising his dedication and hard work during the LDF youth development program.

Presenting the cheque, Platinum Credit Managing Director, Nonvula Tšenase, said they had beeninformed that Masilo stood out among 377 boot campers, excelling in all tasks and performances, which had earned him the top spot.

Tšenase indicated that the company had not just given Masilo the cheque as the winner but, after learning about his character and qualities, it was evident that indeed God had intended for him to receive that gift.

She noted that Platinum Credit Lesotho dreams together with people who are determined to build the economy and invest for tough days.

“To the youth, I always say it is nice to spendmoney, but it is even nicer to have money that doesn’t run out,” Tšenase said.

She further encouraged people to start investing the little money they have., citing one can invest 30 percent of their salary or income for the future.

Lesotho has trusted Platinum Credit to boost the economy and change the way people think about money, she stated.

Tšenase added that the company had invested M250 000 to the LDF Boot Camp programme as part of its effort to support the initiative with the aim of moulding future leaders.

For his part, Senior Consultant at the Lesotho Post Bank, Koena Makhetha said Masilo’s prize money will be invested under Telea Fixed Deposit, where investors can invest for three or five years, with great attractive interest rates and flexible terms.

“This kind of investment is good for someone who is determined to build the economy and invest for hard days,” Makhetha explained, highlighting the bank’s commitment to promoting financial literacy.

“At Lesotho Post Bank, we aim to cultivate a culture of financial literacy, empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their money. We believe that by investing in our youth and encouraging smart financial habits, we can build a stronger financial future for Lesotho.”

Masilo thanked Platinum Credit Lesotho for recognising him among other boot campers.

“This is an amazing opportunity for me to secure my future. It was so generous of you to think of me. I am looking forward to the benefits of this special gift of investment with joy and greatness. I plan to grow this investment and make the most of it,” he added.
