Petroleum Fund seeks to promote safety

The Petroleum Fund Lesotho has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Development Management (IDM)focusing on health and safety protocols for handling petrol and diesel.

The Fund also donated Jerry cans for distribution to 90 filling stations across the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony yesterday, interim Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Fund, Makananelo Kome, explained that the MOU with IDM focuses on promoting the health and safety of filling station workers. These employees will receive training on handling petrol and diesel safely and mitigating risks.

“Under this agreement, the Petroleum Fund will sponsor training programmes at IDM for one representative from each of the 90 filling stations,” Kome said.

She further highlighted the dangers of storing oil in plastic bottles.

The Fund has also signed an MoU with the police.
