A Southern African NGO, Gender Links will on Thursday commemorate the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, through a regional webinar.
This year’s commemoration will be held under the United Nations theme, “Trapped Behind the Scam”, highlighting the growing links between human trafficking, fraudulent recruitment scams, online deception and other technology-enabled forms of exploitation.
According to a Gender Links statement, particular attention will be given to the risks faced by young people, women, migrants and job seekers.
“The webinar will bring together government institutions, civil society organisations, communities, researchers, youth leaders and development partners to examine emerging trafficking trends, prevention strategies, legislative frameworks and reporting mechanisms.
“Participants will also hear from practitioners working directly with affected communities across the region,” the statement noted.
