Lesotho’s favourite Afro-pop artist Omali has once again been featured in new music – a track titled “Fana Ka Nna” by Mugasti which was released two weeks ago.
Born Rethabile ‘Nai, the artist told this publication that Mugasti approached him with a concept and offered him the opportunity to be part of the track, and he was happy to take him up on that offer.
He said the song is basically about a guy promising his give all his heart to his partner.
One of his verses on the track goe: “ke tiisitse ngoana, ntho ena ha se mantloane, ke batla ho bontṧa hore banna ha ba tṧoane” which simply means that the guy telling his lover that he is committed to her and he is not playing games. It also says that the guy wants to show his lover that not all men are the same.
‘Fana Ka Nna’ was produced by Chopsta Beats and Doti.
He said Mugasti is a vocalist for a music band named Origin Music, adding that one of the reasons for him to welcome Mugastic’s invitation to be part of the track is that they already had a good working relationship.
“I like his style of music which is some sort of rock but sung in Sesotho. His music is also relevant hence I found it desirable to work with him.
“I was also inspired by the content of the song which is what I align with as an artist,” he said.
Omali revealed that he is working on new projects that include more collaborations.
He said he is currently working on two projects, one of which is with is a South African based artist.
He said these collaborations signify growth in his music career, which means that the market is opening up for him even outside Lesotho.
Omali said bookings are coming in although not as much as he would have expected.
He said although he does not want to touch on the issue of bookings, he has discovered why a lot of Basotho artists acquire non-paying bookings.
Themba started singing in 2012 while in secondary school, and later commenced his music career after completing his high school.
