Lesotho to celebrate EMS week

By Neo Kolane

Lesotho will join the rest of the world to celebrate International Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week.

The celebration will run from May 22 to May 25.

The event brings together local communities and medical personnel to honour the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s frontline.

The Medical Emergency Association of Lesotho in a statement said that EMS Week is also an opportunity to raise public awareness about the critical role of emergency medical services.

The organisation noted that although the government does not employ any paramedics, this does not stop them from celebrating those saving lives through private companies.

“The celebration will also be an awareness campaign to show and teach local communities the importance of EMS. This will be done through various activities throughout the country during this period,” the statement said.
