RSL, LDF sign MoU

‘Mantšali Phakoana

The Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) and the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise collaboration between the two institutions.

The MoU was signed by the RSL commissioner general, ‘Mathabo Mokoko, and the LDF deputy chief of defence staff, Major General Matela Matobakele.

According to an RSL statement yesterday, the agreement aims to foster collaboration in information exchange, corporate social responsibility programmes, and provision of training to personnel from both organisations.

The MoU also covers the provision of security services to the RSL and cooperation on developmental and support programmes.

Mokoko said the RSL and LDF were formalising cordial relations that the two institutions have enjoyed over the years.

She noted that the organisations were the backbone of the country and their formal collaboration will go a long way to have a positive impact in changing the livelihoods of Basotho.

For his part, Major General Matobakele indicated that the tax office and the army share common interests.

He said the LDF was ready to work with the RSL to ensure the successful implementation of the MoU through enhancing their knowledge on the tax system and assisting the RSL to manage tax leakages at unmanned border areas across the country.
