GEM Institute celebrates World Art Day

By Matšeliso Phulane

Gender Entrepreneurship Media (GEM) Institute yesterday celebrated World Art Day.

The non- profit organisation aspires to build innovative social entrepreneurship centres of excellence for peace building and fighting inequality.

It also seeks to promote creativity and innovation among young people.

Yesterday’s event was aimed at reviewing assets accumulated under the creative cultural industry over time and map the way forward.

It further sought to deepen the creative cultural entry points on experiences, opportunities and challenges in finance and investment.

The ceremony was also attended by an investor from Singapore, a cultural media company from Botswana, famous South African stage and screen actor Jerry Mofokeng, and other stakeholders.

In her opening remarks, the executive director and founder of GEM Institute, Mpho Letima, said: “We are convening here to re-think ourselves, hence the presence of these guests. That shows how far we have moved as Basotho from the creative space as well as in the artistic space.”
