To commemorate 30 years of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will host a two-day capacity building workshop from Tuesday next week.
According to a statement by UNFPA representative Innocent Modisaotsile, to commemorate these 30 years the organization is facilitating a review process to celebrate achievements, assess challenges and reflect on the future of the ICPD agenda.
In 1994 ICPD agreed on a bold agenda that places human rights and dignity at the heart of sustainable development.
Among other stakeholders, media has been identified as a critical constituency capable of transforming and influencing the implementation of the ICPD agenda.
In Lesotho, the Media Institute of Southern Africa made a commitment in 2019 ahead of the Nairobi Summit on ICPD to report extensively and impactfully on issues related to ICDP hence the need to participate in the workshop.
