Matekane decries Sudan bombing

Prime minister Sam Matekane has expressed concern over the bombing incident of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) diplomatic residence in Sudan last month.

The incident occurred during the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Sudanese Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Matekane expressed his concern during the working visit of the ambassador of the UAE t890o Lesotho, His Excellency Mahash Saeed Alhameli, on Wednesday last week.1W§Q

Alhameli and Matekane discussed issues of mutual interests and ways of enhancing bonds of friendship and diplomatic relations that subsist between the two countries.

Matekane indicated that the attack on the diplomatic residence was a grave violation of the fundamental principle of the inviolability of diplomatic premises.

He noted it was the principled conviction of his government that despite the ravaging war, the protection of civilians and key installations including diplomatic premises was a sacrosanct principle of the United Nations that must be respected all the time.

Matekane reiterated his appeal for an immediate ceasefire to end hostilities and return to normalcy, so that the ordinary people of Sudan can enjoy their livelihoods, including freedom to choose their own government.
